Riptide Summer Splash

Summer Splash takes place in the early mornings, featuring high-intensity training to prepare for competition either with Riptide or with a summer club, or simply to stay in shape for the fall/winter season.

Registration eligibility:

Summer Splash does not include Tiny Tide or Tidal Wave groups. The program is intended for swimmers age 10 & over as of June 30th, 2026. Swimmers age 9 & under may register if: (1) they have previously practiced with a “Junior” level practice group or (2) they have head coach’s permission. Swimmers will be separated into groups at practice by age and ability, however, you do not need to register for a specific group. All practice groups will have the same schedule and price.

All swimmers age 10&up, who participated in the previous 2025-26 RVY Riptide winter season are eligible to sign up. Swimmers 9&under, or swimmers who were not part of the most recent Riptide winter season, need head coach’s approval to sign up. Note for swimmers new to Riptide: previous competitive experience is highly recommended due to the nature of the practices. Summer Splash is geared more toward high-intensity training than technique instruction, so swimmers must be ready for practices in that context. Swimmers wishing to register but unsure of their ability to participate in a Senior-level swim practice should contact Coach Brian at the email below. Program Location:    Brookside Swim Club, Washington Ave., Milltown, NJ 08850.

Program Dates:

• Starts: Monday, June 1st. Ends Friday, July 31st.
• June 1st to June 23rd – Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu, 6:30 to 8:15pm (except for dates listed as “NO PRACTICE” below)
• June 25th to July 31st – Mon/Tue/Thu/Fri, 5:45 to 7:30am (except for dates listed as “NO PRACTICE” below, or preempted by Princeton practice) [Time will switch to 6:00am to 7:30am as of Fri., July 24th.]
• PRINCETON LONG COURSE PRACTICE: Summer Splash will include two long course practices at Princeton University, DeNunzio Pool. These practices will be 7:00am to 8:30am on Tuesday, July 7th, and Tuesday, July 14th. There will be no Riptide practice at Brookside on those days.
• NO PRACTICE: Wednesday, June 17th; Wednesday, June 24th; Tuesday, July 28th, Thursday, July 30th.

Weather cancellations – Changes for weather will be communicated by email and posted on the website as soon as possible. Unpredictability of weather may mean some practices could be cancelled while in progress, and everything will be on a case-by-case basis. Light to moderate rain will not cancel practice; only heavy rain or thunder will result in cancellation. If no cancellation notice has been sent out, assume practice is on as scheduled. Canceled practices will not be made up unless there are more than 4 cancellations over the course of the summer.

Price:                         $335 per swimmer, due at sign-up

Enrollment may close early if all spaces are filled!

All participants must have current membership with the Raritan Valley YMCA, valid through August 1st. Membership options at Raritan Valley YMCA start at $80 per year per person.
